07.09.13 An Evening With Sting To Benefit The Public Theater In New York City!

For the first and only time, Sting will perform songs from his new album, The Last Ship, for 10 concerts to benefit The Public Theater in New York City from September 25 – October 9. An evening of music and storytelling in the intimate, 260-seat Anspacher Theater, these performances will offer unique insight into the creative process of both the new album, to be released September 24 (internationally on September 23), and his forthcoming play of the same name, premiering in 2014. All proceeds will benefit The Public Theater.

In keeping with Sting's longstanding tradition of hosting special events for his official fan club, in addition to these 10 performances, 100 Sting.com members will receive free tickets, selected via lottery, to attend a very special concert in celebration of his birthday on Wednesday, October 2 at The Public Theater. Stay tuned to www.sting.com for details.

"Sting's Back To Bass tour started in 2011, launched its Canadian leg in May and has been collecting stunning reviews and huge crowds at every stop. The tour is built on simplicity; six musicians, a bit of razzle, some musical dazzle. Original E-Streeter David Sancious sits at the Keyboard, with drummer Vinnie Colaiuta and guitarist Dominic Miller, violin and mandolin from Peter Tickell and the added richness of Jo Lawry's backing vocals. It's a tight, intimate group you might like to see at Joe's, but they had no trouble filling every ear at Mile One. Can we single out one performer as shining? No, Each brought maximum talent to the stage. Nicely chosen. (How does one get hired to play for Sting, anyway?) On their feet from the moment the show opened with 'If I Ever Lose My Faith In You', a Grammy-winning tune from 1993's 'Ten Summoner's Tales', the crowd ate it up..."
Sting was joined by surprise guest Paul Simon at his Back To Bass concert at the Borgata in Atlantic City, where they paired up for performances of "The Boxer" and "Fields Of Gold." Check out this shot of the two rehearsing before the concert.

Sting made more than a few dreams come true Monday night. Several people waiting to get into the show at Credit Union Place said that seeing him live in concert was on their "bucket list" of things to do before they die. "His voice is just so pitch perfect," said Josée Ouellon, of Moncton. "And of course the music from The Police is good too. It's classic. It's never going to grow old on me," she said. Margaret Parsons, of Halifax, has also waited a lifetime to see Sting - though she never imagined she'd be doing it in Summerside, P.E.I...
