Sting begins brief tour in Mexico...

The singer performed his first concert in Mexico City, before nearly 10,000 spectators, who cheered and sang along to his most famous songs.

Gordon Sumner, better known as Sting, performed the first of two concerts at the National Auditorium as part of his short tour of Guadalajara and Monterrey. On Wednesday night, he presented his 57th & 9th Tour, a follow-up to his latest self-titled album.

The British singer, who appeared on stage just after 9:00 p.m., delighted the nearly 10,000 spectators with his new songs, but also performed iconic songs by The Police and his solo hits.

Sting took the stage to perform his song "Synchronicity II," immediately getting a standing ovation from the audience, who greeted him with loud applause.

The Colossus of Reforma was modified in the front rows, as the seats were removed so that dozens of the singer's fans could stand very close to the British singer, who interacted with his followers several times in Spanish. 

With his bass guitar slung over his shoulder and wearing tight Oxford pants and a discreet, casual blue T-shirt, the 65-year-old singer continued with "Spirits in the Material World" by The Police, the group he belonged to at the beginning of his artistic career; "Englishman in New York" from his solo album, Nothing Like the Sun (1987); and "I Can't Stop Thinking About You," from Sting's studio album, 57th & 9th (2016), named after the intersection the singer must cross every time he heads to the recording studio in New York.

"Thank you, this is my band," Sting addressed his fans in Spanish, who celebrated with applause and shouts of joy, leading them to continue listening to "And here's my son Joe (Sumner)." The musician continued with "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" and "One Fine Day," which were met with applause and cheers, before moving on to "She's Too Good."

The singer, who revolutionized the 1980s with his band The Police, was applauded with great jubilation as the chords of his 1990s classic "Fields of Gold" were heard, to which some sang at the top of their lungs. 

One of the most emotional moments of the night was when the blond singer stood in the middle of the stage, wrapped in his trusty bass, and performed "Shape of My Heart," while his son, Joe Sumner, provided backup vocals for him at the concert at the Coloso de Reforma.

The recital continued with "Message in a Bottle." At the end of the song, the singer asked, "Where's my son?" and handed him the microphone to sing "Ashes to Ashes."

Before the closing ceremony, "Desert Rose" and the famous song "Roxanne" were played in the Paseo de la Reforma building, bringing everyone from the seats below to the second floor to their feet.

Sting performed the encore and final farewell to the show at the National Auditorium masterfully with his acoustic version of "Fragile," while wearing a unique T-shirt that read: "Ayotzinapa."
