The audience sang along to the hits "Englishman in New York", "Desert Rose" and "Roxanne"
To the delight of thousands of visitors who had been waiting for six years for a new opportunity to hear the popular British musician live, Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, better known as Sting, performed last night at the Kombank Arena in New Belgrade.
The frontman of the famous rock band "Polis" put on a real spectacle for the large audience in the largest hall in Belgrade, but in an intimate and personal atmosphere. With a three-piece band consisting of his long-time collaborators Dominic Miller (guitarist), Josh Freese (drummer) and Rufus Miller (guitarist), he played and sang the hits of the legendary group in which he became famous, as well as songs from his solo albums.
The concert was opened at exactly 8 p.m. by Sting's eldest son Joe Sumner, who, in front of the almost full "Arena", played several ballads from the repertoire of his band "Fiction Plane" in an acoustic arrangement, such as "Drink" and "Two Sisters", as well as his song "Jelly Bean".
After a half-hour minimalist performance that delighted the audience, Joe Sumner moved to the microphone for backing vocals, and before the already packed Kombank Arena came out, the main sensation of the evening.
The bassist and singer, who first visited Belgrade in 2008 when he held a spectacular concert at Usce with the group "Polis", performed songs from the new album "57th & 9th" with the band, as well as timeless hits such as "Every breath you take", "Englishman in New York", "Desert rose", "Message in the bottle" and "Roxanne".
The audience also had the opportunity to hear the hit of the recently deceased David Bowie "Ashes to ashes", and the concert ended with the famous song "Fragile".
Sting performed in Serbia as part of his latest tour "57th & 9th World Tour", which has already visited more than 50 cities around the world since February. After sold-out concerts in North America, Europe, South America and Mexico, he presented his twelfth studio album, after which the tour was named, to the Belgrade audience.
