Sting has conquered the Czech Republic for the third time this year...
The triumphant Back to Bass tour of British singer Sting has made another stop in the Czech Republic. After two concerts in Prague this year, this time the singer and bassist came to Ostrava with his well-rounded program and once again confirmed his reputation as a renowned concert artist.
Just like at the last Czech concert in Prague's O2 Arena, the first three songs in Ostrava indicated the direction the entire performance would take, although the list of songs initially differed slightly from the Prague stop.
The opening was 'If I Ever Lose My Faith In You' from 1993, followed by 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic' from the early repertoire of the legendary The Police, and the opening three was crowned by one of Sting's biggest and oldest solo hits, 'Englishman in New York'. The jumps between songs, which were composed several decades apart, were characteristic for the rest of the concert.
The audience literally pecked Sting's hand from beginning to end - all he had to do was clap at the right moment and the crowd of thousands immediately grew into a forest of waving hands. And when a red light shone above the stage during the chorus of the post-punk hit about a prostitute 'Roxanne', the crowd could have gone crazy with enthusiasm.
Fans who went to see Sting for the second time this year also got their money's worth. Unlike the Prague concert in June, the aforementioned song 'Roxanne' or the fragile song 'Fragile' were played.
And above all - the Ostrava concert was significantly longer. While the Prague concert, according to media reports, lasted just over an hour and a half, in Ostrava the freshly sixty-one-year-old Sting managed to sing for about two and a quarter hours. The return of the sixteen-time Grammy Award winner to the ČEZ Arena in Ostrava, for which his fans from the eastern half of the country had to wait for fifteen long years, was a peak concert event that will be remembered for a long time.
