Sting's hit...
Sting was in early festive mood - making the special dreams of two of his fans come true.
The singer invited 16-year-old Trisha, from Bewdley, and Dave, aged 30, from Leicester, to perform with him on stage.
Dave was even persuaded by Sting to propose to his long-standing girlfriend in the audience although the immediate response is not known.
Sting may have become as well known for his defence of the planet as his singing these days, but he showed that he remains a brilliant live performer.
Backed by a highly impressive five-piece band, the former Police frontman used his excellent soul and jazz influences to great effect. He still sounded great on outstanding solo hits ranging from dreamy ballad 'Fields Of Gold' to 'If You Love Somebody' and 'An Englishman In New York'.
But there was also room for occasional classics from his Police days such as 'Roxanne'.

Cold comfort with a Sting...
He had a cold, but Sting's vocals soon faultless warmed up a packed crowd. He may be the wrong side of 40, but he has the looks and physique of a man half his age.
And last night he showed just why he has spent so long in the superstar league. After a low-key start, old favourites 'If You Love Somebody' and 'Every Little Thing She Does' had the crowd on its feet and eating out of the former teacher's hand.
From then on, it was feel-good factor all the way, with the haunting 'Fields of Gold' and 'Roxanne' proving show-stopping high-lights.
Backed by an energetic five-piece band, the musicianship was excellent, although some of the solos were just a bit self-indulgent. Standing ovations all round though, the value-for-money two-hour set. He may not give music lessons for a living these days, but Sting remains a class act.
