Sting and Shaggy have worked together on several ‘Caribbean-flavoured’ songs

The pair debuted their first collaboration at a charity concert in Jamaica last week Sting and Shaggy have worked together on several “Caribbean-flavoured” tracks, the first of which has been revealed.

The pair debuted ‘Don’t Make Me Wait’ live at a charity concert in Jamaica last week (January 6). The musicians performed as part of the Shaggy & Friends show that was held to benefit the Bustamante Hospital For Children in Kingston.

You can watch a clip of that performance below. The studio version of the track will be released on February 2.

According to a press release, the studio sessions happened late last year and resulted in music that reflects both Sting and Shaggy’s “mutual love of Jamaica, its music, people and culture”. The tracks are also described as being “island-influenced” and “Caribbean-flavoured”.

It is not clear whether the duo will release their work together as an album or EP, or a handful of standalone tracks.

Meanwhile, London Mayor Sadiq Khan revealed he was a member of Sting’s fan club on Rough Trade’s ‘On The Record’ podcast in December 2016. The politician picked ‘Englishman In New York’ as one of his favourite every songs. Khan said: “I’m still a member of the Sting fan club. They let you know when he’s playing a concert or there’s an album. They’ve stopped sending posters and badges, which is probably a good idea ‘cos my wife might leave me.”
