The ex-Police frontman started the show with Message In A Bottle, causing a frenzy as the sun set on Seaclose Park.
The hits didn't stop coming, with Sting playing Fields of Gold, Englishman in New York, and Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic.
He also called the Isle of Wight Festival a "legendary, historic" festival.
Sting is currently on tour in the UK and Europe, before heading to Asia and America in the autumn.
