Sting's Tsunami Benefit concert raises more than AUS$4 million...

The Sting Leeuwin Estate Tsunami Benefit Concert raised more than AUS$4 million for the victims of the Asia tsunami, it was announced to Thursday's enthusiastic crowd. After Sting sang "stand up" to the crowd of 6500 they did just that, many dancing in place for most of the two-hour concert. Sting was in top form, blending old favourites such as as 'Every Little Thing She Does is Magic', 'Fields of Gold', 'Every Step You Take' and an extended version of 'Roxanne' with more recent pieces. The benefit concert was added after selling out previously scheduled performances for February 12 and 13-the fastest sell-outs in Leeuwin's 21-year concert history. Locals donated to the cause in a wide variety of ways, from offering their services for free to donating accommodation for the night. The State Government matched funds raised dollar for dollar. All proceeds will go to UNICEF's emergency work and other Australian registered charities supporting the tsunami victims. Leeuwin owner Denis Horgan said it was always good to see people enjoying the Leeuwin concerts, and this one was a suitable 21st.
