Top Fashion Designers Join Forces For The Rainforest...

Sting and Trudie set the pace at Respoke Bespoke, a vintagefashion party, to benefit the Rainforest Foundation 29 June in London.

Founding patrons of the Rainforest Foundation, Sting and Trudie andfriends turned out to raise money to stop the carve-up of the Congorainforests in Africa - the second largest after the Amazon.

Nine top designers including Alice Temperley and Paul Smith are taking recycling and re-use to new heights on behalf of the Rainforest Foundation, by creating one-off contemporary pieces based on an item selected from the celebrated Steinberg & Tolkien vintage collection.

Their new creations and the vintage pieces that inspired them were unveiled and auctioned by Christies to raise funds for the Rainforest Foundation at a very special event - Respoke Bespoke! Will Young performed an exclusive set during the evening, which was hosted by Trudie Styler and Tracy Tolkien, owner of Steinberg & Tolkien.

"I have watched in awe over the years how designers have taken old forgotten pieces from our vintage collection and filtered them through their mind's eye, magically creating something new and wonderful! That's exactly what our participating designers have done to raise awareness about indigenous people and their right to protect their rainforest home," said Tracy Tolkien.

Simon Counsell, Director of the Rainforest Foundation said: "This event has helped us to continue our work of protecting the rainforests for future generations."
