In your own words: 'Roxanne' was the first Police song I heard on the radio when I was around twelve. Couldn't stop playing it or singing along (to my older sister's dismay lol). A year or so later, I remember wanting to form a band (I am a drummer) to perform at my junior high school talent show, buying the sheet music to 'De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da' at a Caldor department store music department, even though we didn't really have the talent to do so. The Police broke up before I graduated high school, and before I had a chance to see them live. In 2007, I finally realized that dream when my wife and I attended as VIP ticket holders, the Hershey Park Stadium Police concert. Recently I have formed a Police tribute trio, SO LONELY, and may be the only tribute where the drummer is performing as Stewart Copeland on drums while singing as Sting...that would be me. :-) Here's audio of our demo medley: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5gp_55QIL4
