The Hotel Diplomat was home to a dance club (The Constellation). My girlfriends and I were high schoolers and The Constellation did not enforce an ID policy (we were 15 years old … hard to believe). One night I slipped away from my friends to see what band was playing in another area of the hotel … with wide eyes I watched the most amazing set: So lonely Roxanne Can’t Stand Losing You Message in a Bottle Walking on the Moon and more.
After the show I got up the courage to tell the band how much I enjoyed the show (this was pre-security days), these gentlemen were very patience, and kind to this New York kid, especially the one with the cool name … through the years I have had the opportunity to see other Police concerts (including the reunion at Jones Beach, NY in 2008) and many Sting performances (personal favorite Symphonicity at Jones Beach in 2010). Thank you for touring and sharing your music.
