Sting Rolls Through Hits At Hard Rock Atlantic City...
The rock icon’s songs have stood the test of time.
Last night, Sting brought his My Songs Tour to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. The rock music icon is not short on hits, and he brought them all out inside the Etess Arena. He seamlessly blended tracks from his solo career and days with The Police to create an unforgettable experience for the capacity crowd.
Sting strolled onto the stage strapped with a worn out Fender bass that looks like its logged a couple thousand touring miles. He started the show with one of his more notable tracks – the heart-pumping “Message in a Bottle” from The Police’s 1979 outing Reggatta de Blanc. The crowd jumped to their feet and helped Sting sing every word.
Sting had an excellent cadence to his set, bouncing back and forth between solo songs and tunes by The Police. Last November, he released his fifteenth studio album The Bridge. Sting performed the album’s two singles – “If It’s Love” and “Rushing Water,” and both garnered a favourable reaction from the audience. Not relying too much on nostalgia, he also revealed three other tracks from his latest LP.
On two occasions during the night, Sting unleashed back-to-back bangers. The first came when he brought out “Fields of Gold” and “Brand New Day” one right after the other. Later on, he closed out the main set with two of his most seminal songs – The Police’s “Every Breath You Take” and “Roxanne,” the former of which is even more haunting in a live setting.
Other highlights included “Englishman in New York,” “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic,” “Wrapped Around Your Finger,” “Walking on the Moon,” “Desert Rose,” and a medley of “Shape of My Heart” and “Lucid Dreams.”
He returned to the stage for a two-track encore that featured “Driven to Tears” and “The Bridge,” the title track from this latest solo outing. With an outstanding band accompanying him, Sting has put together a live show leaves no Sting or Police fan wanting more. The My Songs tour is a must-see.
Sting’s current trek rolls on through the end of May. On June 3, the legendary singer will kick off a month-long residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. From there, Sting will head to Europe for a string of arena and festival appearances that will carry him through the fall. Tickets are on sale now at Sting.com.
