Sting conquers Arena Armeec...
Sting is one of the performers who consistently enjoys an excellent reception in Bulgaria, no matter how many times they come. The Briton's sixth visit (and fifth, organized by "Sofia Music Enterprises") was proof of this. The largest hall in our country - "Arena Armeec", was bursting at the seams again, just like the previous time in 2017.
The audience (including many fans from neighbouring countries) knew that Sting was on tour to present his greatest hits collection - My Songs, which was perfect for her. Given the joint and rather strange experiment with Shaggy, which was presented last summer at the Ancient Theater in Plovdiv (editor's note - Sting still reminded us on Saturday night about this stumble with the song Waiting for the Break of Day).
Apart from that, there were no disappointed people in the hall. After the interesting warm-up set by the singer Chinchilla, the real “cream” from Sting followed. A retrospective walk through his over 40-year career, including songs from the “Police” era, starting with the opening Message in a Bottle, and ending with his five encore songs – Can’t Stand Losing You, King of Pain, Demolition Man, Every Breath You Take and Next to You. The audience was also waiting for the jewels of his solo career. And they got them – Englishman in New York, Fields of Gold, Fragile… The forgotten Seven Days (1992) was also inserted. But the culminations seemed to be the performances of Shape of My Heart and Desert Rose.
At the same time, Sting was in excellent shape – at the very beginning of his tour – charged and in a good mood from the positive vibes he always receives in Bulgaria. However, the human senses are not easily satisfied. And after the second encore, the enthusiastic fans continued to want more and more of his songs. Well, it was over, but there were no disappointments. Let's leave something for next time.
