Sting is king...
With the first few bars of 'If I Ever Lose My Faith In You' in the background, a guitar-studded Sting jogged onto a stage set off in yellow lights ready to perform and aiming to please thousands of his adoring fans. Sting's 'Ten Summoner's Tales' tour had made its way to the Paramount Stage with a fury.
The small Paramount Theater provided an open and clear view of Sting's radiating pelvis and leaping legs, regardless of what row one was seated in.
His opening act, the Paladinos, provided a half hour of music that sounded like a jazzier 10,000 Maniacs.
Sting's sound was flawless, and the light show was simple yet powerful. The audience was especially wild during the song 'Roxanne' when a stream of red lights swamped the stage.
Between songs, Sting found the time to strip down to a tank top and chat with the audience, refusing the offer to kiss a front row fan because of his commitment to his wife, but accepting her gifts graciously. The audience ranged in age and culture and further reflected the diverse and inclusive appeal of his music.
Sting performed a double encore and left his audience humming and clapping. He bid a good night to all and extended an invitation for everyone to join him upstairs where he performed a duet with Bryan Adams in Madison Square Garden.
With a series of songs meshed and extended into longer mixes, Sting proved his unlimited talent, and further proved that every little thing he does is still magic.
